lyrics

Well I threw away the bible that they gave me
I tossed it in the river Rio Grande
Since you’ve gone away it feels like I’ve been changing
So I’m changing out my locks and making plans

Five more miles to Pflugerville I’m flying
Five more miles and I’ll be at your side
And when that dirt is thrown away and I finally see your face
I’m taking you back home North Caroline

Well I stopped off at the hardware store in Sandy
I bought the cheapest shovel I could find
I also bought some flowers and some candy
You’ve got the sweetest teeth this side of mine

Five more miles to Pflugerville I’m flying
Five more miles and I’ll be at your side
And when that dirt is thrown away and I finally see your face
I’m taking you back home North Caroline

Well you look a little different in that tarp dear
And your smell it isn’t quite what I recall
But it feels so God damn good to have you back here
And by tonight we’ll be having us a ball

Five more miles to Pflugerville I’m flying
Five more miles and I’ll be at your side
And when that dirt is thrown away and I finally see your face
I’m taking you back home North Caroline
It's so good to have you home in Caroline

about

Van Dyke Brown Arlington, Texas

Scott Honea formed Van Dyke Brown in 2019 when he wrote, performed, recorded, and released his debut album "Holy Libel." It quickly found a home on Dallas radio (KXT/91.7), and Fort Worth Weekly called it "dreamy folk pop." Full band shows followed in late 2019 before the world shut down. In 2022, Honea finished the group's sophomore album, which will be released before the end of the year. ... more
