lyrics

When the post oaks all die
Gettin' squeezed by the vines
Crawling high, stretching wide
Never once thinking twice

Now there's nothin' but light
Streaming in through these blinds
And the feelings inside
You worked so hard to hide

You can't change the wind
And you can't change the time
But you can change a heart
And you can change a mind
But you can't change a cloudy day
That's all I'm trying to say

Yeah the shoes get tight
And the years take flight
You are born, live, and die
In the blink of an eye

Son, you can't stay five
No matter how hard you try
So just fight the good fight
And make the wrong things right

You can't change the wind
And you can't change the time
But you can change a heart
And you can change a mind
But you can't change a cloudy day
That's all I'm trying to say

Yeah the sun's gonna shine
and the planets align
And you may be inclined
To think it's somehow divine

When I'm losing my sight
and the dark fills the light
Don't hold on tight
Just hold on tight

about

Van Dyke Brown Arlington, Texas

Scott Honea formed Van Dyke Brown in 2019 when he wrote, performed, recorded, and released his debut album "Holy Libel." It quickly found a home on Dallas radio (KXT/91.7), and Fort Worth Weekly called it "dreamy folk pop." Full band shows followed in late 2019 before the world shut down. In 2022, Honea finished the group's sophomore album, which will be released before the end of the year. ... more
